The Barrie Fair has been a cornerstone of community life in Simcoe County since 1853, when it was first organized by the Barrie and District Agricultural Society (now the Essa & District Agricultural Society). What began as a simple one-day gathering to showcase crops, livestock, and homecrafts has grown into one of central Ontario’s premier agricultural celebrations.

Now hosted at the Essa Agriplex in Thornton, the fair spans four days—this year from August 21 to 24, 2025—and combines agricultural roots with thrilling entertainment.
